PROPHET Chapter 10 VICTORY with Dr. Richard Denton

PROPHET Chapter 10 VICTORY with Dr. Richard Denton

Prophet, Chapter 10 – Victory with Dr. Richard Denton

Dr. Richard Denton takes us on the journey when Robert returns home through towns in ruins and the devastation that war leaves behind. Is this really victory? Once beautiful cities now demolished and citizens killed in the name of peace?

When Robert reaches his home, he finds his parents and sister barricaded in their basement with his home still standing. The family celebrates in the soft lamplight with smiles and toasts. As his father begins to describe his plans for a bigger hat shop, Robert reveals that he wants to work for peace, “I want to be a peacebuilder”. Robert says,” We can’t keep getting into bigger wars and killing more people”. His father disagrees and as you read you see how Robert begins his journey for peace after winning an essay contest with the first prize, an internship at the newly created United Nations.

Richard then takes us on an inspiring journey with his Power Point about the causes of War, how Rotary works for peace, the Four Way Test, and how thinking globally and acting locally is the  Rotary way. He then describes the Culture of Peace with its set of values, attitudes, and behaviors that reject violence and prevent conflicts. “War can be prevented by tackling the root causes to solve problems through dialogue and negotiations among people, groups and nations”, as Richard reminds us and so it will be..

Prophet – The Hatmaker’s Son is the inspiring, true story of Robert Muller, a man who lived through the atrocities of World War II and then dedicated his life to peace at the United Nations. Author Douglas Gillies brings to vivid life the remarkable achievements and astounding story of this great global citizen.
