Diego Carneiro, a Brazilian Cellist Performs To Honor 150 Global Peacmakers and Podcasts for World Peace
Diego Carneiro is a celebrated Brazilian cellist, conductor, and peace advocate, renowned for blending his passion for music with his commitment to global peace. A Rotary Peace Fellow, Diego uses his talent to foster understanding and healing through his performances and music-related projects around the world.
Diego’s musical journey began at an early age in Brazil, in the Amazon region and his education took him to prestigious institutions around the world. He studied cello at Trinity College of Music in London, where he honed both his cello technique and conducting abilities. He has received several prestigious international competition prizes, which allowed him to perform at distinguished venues such as the Royal Albert Hall in London and during the BBC Proms.
In addition to his work in Ecuador, Diego founded Friends of Music in the Americas, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting music education and fostering cultural exchange between the Americas. He also established Orchestrating Peace: a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to creating and supporting music-based peace-building projects globally.
Diego’s contributions to peace-building have been profound. As a Rotary Peace Fellow, he integrates his musical expertise into conflict resolution and humanitarian work. Through performances for refugees and displaced individuals, he uses music to offer a moment of solace and healing in the face of trauma. His work has not only garnered him recognition as an artist but also as a thought leader on the role of music in global peace initiatives.
