The 5th global meeting of the Ending War 101 team focused on building the movement to end war within Rotary.
Speaker, Sam Daley-Harris, author of Reclaiming Our Democracy, Every Citizen’s Guide to Transformational Advocacy, discussed the importance of transformational advocacy in reclaiming our democracy. Sam shared stories of individuals who experienced transformation through advocacy, such as Maxine Thomas, who went from being clueless about advocacy to feeling euphoric after her first meeting with a member of Congress.
Sam emphasized the need for organizations to provide training, community building, and breakthroughs to encourage individuals to step out of their comfort zones. He also highlighted the work of organizations like Citizens Climate Lobby and the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. Sam concluded with next steps.
