For this second edition of Most Of All They Taught Me Happiness, Robert wrote,“It is my greatest wish that these stories will inspire readers to be aware of all their blessings and to work for the happiness of others. All of us can decide to apply our talents, passion and energy to cultivating the welfare of all living beings.”
Barbara shares reflections and stories Robert told her from their conversations in their marriage as she reviews the first chapters and the Foreword by Norman Cousins, the horrors of war and the lessons Robert learned and how he was happy even in prison.
Robert grew up in war-torn Alsace-Lorraine region of France, worked in the French Resistance in WWII, was captured by the Nazis, and swore he would spend his life working for peace. His dream came true and he spent the next 40 years working for peace at the United Nations, rising to the position of Assistant Secretary-General. Sandy takes us through his experiences with Robert at the UN and how the chapter about reading Newspapers still applies today.
As Neale Donald Walsch wrote on the back cover: “ These stories reveal that by overcoming the illusionary fears and limitations of our age, we may step into our limitless power and wisdom of our true divine selves.”
