Peter Yeo President of the Better World Campaign Keynoted the 2021 Santa Barbara UNA Peace Prize
As President of the Santa Barbara United Nations Association, it was my pleasure to welcome our guests to our 5th Annual Santa Barbara UNA Peace Prize Event. Peter Yeo, President of the Better World Campaign was our honored keynote speaker at our Zoom event. Peter leads the campaign’s strategic engagement with Congress and the Administration to promote a strong U.S.-UN relationship. Yeo also serves as the Senior Vice President at the United Nations Foundation. He has worked on a broad range of foreign policy and foreign aid issues.
Peter just returned from a UN Peace Keeping Mission and discussed how the UN helps navigate the difficult path from conflict to peace. He mentioned that sustainable peace cannot be achieved if human rights are not respected. He also brought up the role of women Peacekeepers and how effective their participation has been when they are included in the peace keeping team. Questions and answers brought more understanding of his work.
