Living Together in Peace and accepting differences peacefully and unitedly was Robert Muller’s dream. UNICEF Director, Yasmine Sherif, Education Cannot Wait,  shares how Robert was her inspiration when she joined the United Nations. Yasmine, who leads Chapter Three’s discussion agrees, “peace begins with each of us, and education for all is also my dream.”  Robert Muller was born in Belgium in 1923, as author Douglas Gillies, so vividly describes in Chapter 3 of Prophet the Hatmakers Son. Robert was raised in the Alsace-Lorraine region in France and experienced constant political and cultural turmoil during his youth. His grandparents had five successive nationalities (French, German, French, German, French) without leaving their village as a result of three wars. Often as a child, Robert Muller would look out of his window at the border he could not cross and long for the day when he, like the birds, the clouds, the sun, and the stars, would no longer have to observe the imaginary line and the horrors of war, at long last a World at Peace.
 
Robert Muller’s 100th Anniversary will be March 11, 2023. Each month, on the first Sunday at 9am PST, the next chapter of PROPHET will be explored with commentary from a guest intimately familiar with Robert and his work. His wife, Barbara Gaughen-Muller shares her stories of their world travels working for peace, and living in their cabin on Sacred Mount Rasur, a short walk from University for Peace, that Robert co-created.
