PEACE PODCAST · Barbara Gaughen-Muller Interviews Carole Sumner Krechman, UN Peace Activist

As soon as I talked with Carole,  I wanted to know more about her life and her work. Peace in the Streets Youth Film Festival, for young filmmakers around the world, showcase their efforts to make peace at home.. She was honored in 2008 with the United Nations Purpose Peace Prize, for her life-long activist/volunteer service at the UN. She is a former Chairman of the Board of Friends of the United Nations. During the course of her career, she blogged for the Huffington Post, NAB on line magazine, LinkedIn PGA, DOJ, and other technology news outlets both on Peace Making, Technology and Politics.

Carole is concurrently the Chairman, Founder and President of the Peacemaker Corps Association, a non-profit charity dedicated to teaching children around the world how to make “Peace in the Streets”. PCA is a United Nations NGO with ESCSOC status (WWW.Peacemakercorps.org) (www.PSGFF.com).

Listen to hear how she has guided Peacemaker Corps to create a series of workshops which focus on building peacemaking skills for youth at risk which have been used by thousands of educators through disposition in public housing, elementary schools (Leader in Me) and public schools, religious organizations and government agencies. PCA and its workshops have been honored by US Departments of HUD, Department of Education, Department of Justice, White House Faith Based office, USAID and the US State Department.  She is married with three grown children, five granddaughters and a grandson. Having experienced tragedy, her oldest son who passed away 7 years ago from violence expanded her interest in making peace in the world. Thank you Carole, for bring peace to our youth.
