Taylor O’Connor, Everyday Peacebuilder, Explains How Anyone Can Build Peace With Who You Are

Peace, Podcast, Video

Taylor O’Connor, a big peace nerd at heart, long obsessed with learning all the creative ways people build peace around the world. Taylor got his Master’s in Peace Education from the UN-mandated University for Peace in 2009 and have since worked as a Peacebuilding specialist with NGOs and UN agencies across many countries.

He started researching and documenting all the ways people build peace inside and outside of traditional systems about a decade ago. He built a database of 5,000+ peace organizations and collected survey data from 800+ of my community members around the world to gain insight into all the ways people can build peace. After a comprehensive cross-analysis of all that data, he created the Peacebuilder Typology, a framework that maps hundreds of ways to build peace organized around 24 distinct types of Peacebuilders. It’s the most comprehensive mapping of peacebuilding practice available anywhere.

He founded EverydayPeacebuilding.com because he believes anyone can build peace, and everyone has a unique contribution they can make to the work of building a more peaceful, just world. They just need some exposure to the possibilities available to them, to get access to some practical tools, and find a supportive community. That is what he provides at Everyday Peacebuilding.

Listen as He Answers These 3 Questions
What do you think most people get wrong about peacebuilding, and what led you to start Everyday Peacebuilding?
You’ve developed something called the Peacebuilder Typology. What is it, and why does it matter that there are 24 different ways to build peace?
For listeners who feel called to build peace, or to address a social issue they care deeply about, but don’t know where to start, what would you say to them?
