Jackie Gilbert is the Executive Director of One Thread Collective, a nonprofit orginization that works with Indigenous Wayuu women in La Guajira, Colombia. She cofounded One Thread Collective after spending 9 months in La Guajira as a Fulbright researcher where she was conducting ethnographic fieldwork on the impacts of coal mining in Wayuu communities.

Today she lives in Santa Barbara California where One Thread Collective just opened its first brick and mortar store where they are selling hand-woven accessories and homewares made by women of the Wayuu tribe. Barbara announced that Jackie Gilbert from One Thread Collective has been nominated for the 10th Annual UNA-Santa Barbara Peace Prize, which will be a luncheon on Tuesday, September 22nd, in Santa Barbara, CA.
